Can I use Carbon Fiber Filament in my printer?
In conclusion, YES. If your printer accepts 3rd party filament (open source), then our carbon fiber filaments will work. You can print with our Carbon Fiber Nylon if you can print with Nylon. Carbon fiber, on the other hand, is abrasive and will wear out a brass nozzle - see below.
What type of nozzle should I use when printing with Carbon Fiber filament?
To avoid clogging, we recommend an orifice size of at least 0.4mm. Furthermore, we recommend using either hardened steel nozzles to reduce / minimize nozzle wear or our hard carbide nozzles, which have an extremely long lifespan. Brass nozzles can be used, but they must be replaced after 1kg of filament has been used (give or take). The good news is that brass nozzles are inexpensive and should be regarded as a consumable if you opt for high-performance grades reinforced with carbon fiber. Do you require a hard nozzle? Check out our Super Hard Carbide nozzles, which will not wear and can be used to print almost anything.
